Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 27, 2007 -- Global Experiences, a leader in Customized Italian Internship Programs, is working with The Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF), the nation's largest Italian American philanthropic organization, to create scholarship opportunities for students seeking to engage in Italian language training and internships in Italy.
The second annual Italian Language and Internship Scholarship was presented to Lisa Rigoli, a Duquesne University senior. Lisa will study Italian in Florence, Rome, or Milan for one month and then intern with an Italian company in her field of study. She is one of 12 young Italian Americans who received a total of $100,000 in scholarships to leading colleges and universities at the SIF's 19th annual National Education & Leadership Awards (NELA) Gala in Washington, DC on May 24th.
"In an increasingly competitive world, international study and travel is essential to a student's education," says Vincent Sarno, Sons of Italy Foundation chairman. "The opportunities provided through Global Experiences are priceless to students of all backgrounds and we are proud to offer and support such a prestigious program."
"We are proud to build on our partnership with the Sons of Italy Foundation," says Global Experiences Director of Operations, Michael Greto. "It is an honor to help students like Ms. Rigoli and others bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace through hands-on, international work experience."
In addition to scholarships, Global Experiences and the SIF are promoting US/Italy cultural exchange by offering discounts on GE programs to people of all ages who belong to the Order Sons of Italy in America.
Global Experiences is dedicated to helping students and graduates explore their career interests through customized, hands-on international work experience. The industry leader in Italian internship programs, they also offer customized internship and immersion language programs in the UK, Australia, Spain, and France.
The Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF) is the philanthropic arm of the Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA), the nation's oldest and largest organization for people of Italian heritage. Over the years, the SIF has contributed nearly $96 million to medical research, disaster relief, and scholarships.
