Tampa Bay, FL – June 25, 2010 -- Effective Resources, Inc. is conducting its tenth annual benchmarking survey of salary, wages and benefits offered to Florida employers via their secure survey website, SalarySurveyOnline.com.
With clients in virtually all industry groups, Effective Resources saw the need for employers to provide more local details in order to attract and retain workers within Florida, rather than use regional or national averages. Effective Resources has been providing annual salary surveys for Florida employers since 1993. The survey provides employers with the information they need to make sound business decisions by comparing themselves to others in their industry, location and size.
“Base pay increases will be non-existent in about 26 percent of Florida employers,” explained Barry L. Brown, President. “That’s just a little better than national numbers of 30 to 40 percent. Any Florida employer evaluating whether they have a competitive benefit and compensation package should be interested in this survey.”
Among the highlights of the last survey:
- The overall average monthly employee turnover rate had risen slowly by one-tenth of one percent each year for the last few survey years for Florida employers. Last year monthly turnover was 1.8 percent as compared to 2.3 percent this year. This is a big jump and not unexpected. Hopefully, we won’t see this trend continue as the cuts have already been made and most employees are staying put. Sales experienced the highest turnover at 3.2 percent, followed by Services with 3.1 percent turnover. Would anyone be surprised to learn that Government/Education had the lowest turnover at .9 percent?
- Not surprising, the merit increases this year are down from last year. And, as with most annual projections, the actual will very likely be something less than the projected. The survey showed about 74 percent of Florida employers planned a merit increase for next year. Including all employers (including zero merit increase), the average merit projected for next year is 2.4 percent.
