The parent company of First Citizens and its subsidiaries have approximately 4,800 employees working in 393 branches in 14 states. With a large distributed labor force, the bank began searching for an integrated, technologically advanced HR/payroll solution that includes comprehensive human resources, benefits, and payroll functionality with customizable reporting and Web self-service for employees and managers. Seeking a hosted application, First Citizens also wanted to enable its IT staff to focus on business-critical projects and systems rather than HRMS management. After an in-depth evaluation of possible solutions, the bank chose Intersourcing in February 2006.

Besides giving HR more time, Intersourcing can release IT from the responsibilities associated with supporting HR systems because Ultimate Software undertakes the hardware management, software upgrades, version control, and backups for its Intersourcing customers.
