EMPLOYEE PAID TRAVEL EXPENSES

Employee paid expenses
In a case involving Domino’s Pizza, certain pizza delivery persons suggested
they were getting less than minimum wage as they paid more than $50 per pay
period in car expenses.  The employer argued that these travel expenses
should not be considered a deduction from wages.

However, the court disagreed and suggested they should be treated like
uniforms and equipment purchases required by employers.
Therefore, the Court refused to dismiss the minimum wage claim,
which will now go to trial. Luiken, et al. v.
