Our Client's existing solution for planning employee compensation was an application service provider (ASP) that consisted of two independent systems: a Merit System for managing salary increases, and a Compensation System for administering their annual incentive plan (AIP) and employee stock grants. Although the functionality of the overall application was adequate, the dynamic nature of our client's business required custom modifications that the ASP could not provide. DefinedLogic's primary goal was to assess the existing systems and develop an approach that would continue to provide the existing functionality, but also incorporate a separate set of additional requirements to meet the specific needs of the client's various business units.
The Solution

The new application provides managers an overview of an employee's complete compensation picture, and then empowers them to make merit, stock and AIP compensation decisions based on performance and budgeted totals. The system handles all approval and workflow to allow higher level managers to view, approve, and modify suggested employee compensation, while shortening the overall compensation cycle and reducing the amount of time every manager spends on the process.
