DETROIT - November 30, 2005 - DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund has awarded Young Audiences of Michigan a grant of $15,000 to continue to provide a "performing arts educational experience" to students of public and private schools under the Youth Arts Theatre program.
The announcement was made by Jim Jennings, board president of Young Audiences of Michigan.
"This grant is not only a significant recognition of Young Audiences´ commitment to arts programs for children, it´s a statement by DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund that Young Audiences is the right partner for Youth Arts Theatre," Jennings said. "We´re grateful for DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund´s increased contribution for 2006," he said. The funds will allow schools to send deserving students, who would not otherwise be able to attend, to Youth Arts Theatre´s school field trip series.
"We are pleased to support the Youth Arts Theatre program of Young Audiences of Michigan and their successful programs which make the arts come alive for students in southeastern Michigan," said Brian Glowiak, vice president and secretary of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund.
On November 3, Young Audiences announced it was assimilating the program of the former Youtheatre. Now operating as a program of Young Audiences called Youth Arts Theatre, the 41-year-old live theatre series will continue in 2006, owing to support from funders such as DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. Fund raising will continue under the Young Audiences banner, benefiting its youth arts programs, which are among the largest in Michigan.
Youth Arts Theatre will conduct its performances at theatres in Ann Arbor, Clinton Township, Detroit and Southfield. Young Audiences´ goal is to expand the number of students served from 45,000 in 2005 to 150,000 in 2006.
