WHAT: Mark Budke, consultant, Convergys Learning Solutions, will present on “Maximizing the Power of Role-Play Simulations in E-Learning”
WHEN: The ASTD 2007 International Conference and Exposition to be held on Sunday, June 3 – Wednesday, June 6, 2007
“Maximizing the Power of Role-Play Simulations in E-Learning” is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2007 from 1:45 9.m. – 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Ga.
DETAILS: One of the oldest educational methods, role-play simulations, remains an effective and engaging means of learning. To play the role of someone else requires both reflection and self-reflection. Although many e-learning developers and designers realize the power that role-play simulations have on learners, many don’t know how to determine where role-play simulations will bring the most value or how to incorporate the most successful role-play components.
This session will reveal the steps to developing effective and engaging role-play simulations starting with a curriculum analysis, the development of the storyline, selecting a conversation model, and defining the simulation’s structure. By taking attendees through the steps used to create award-winning solutions for Microsoft, Mazda, Circuit City and Cisco Systems, Budke will show how to develop role-play simulations for a variety of uses, including sales training. In the future, when a company decides that a role-play simulation is the most powerful means of e-learning for their needs, they are prepared to make it happen.
The ASTD 2007 International Conference & Exposition will be another learning-filled event with new sessions and new speakers as well as returning popular speakers and more repeated sessions. Innogizer sessions will be back as well as the View from the CLO and Legends sessions.
New features this year are International Perspectives, which includes the former International Forums and also highlights sessions of global interest or delivered by international speakers. Learning Labs, a new feature, are informal learning opportunities which revolve around a facilitated discussion for a specific target audience and include a wiki to use technology for both social networking and content-sharing. The wiki will be available prior to the conference to get the discussion rolling.
In addition to the nine tracks, another category – the Learning Approach – has been added. This designation shows the focus of the session, such as Case Study, Experiential/Interactive, Innovation, or Future Outlook. Target Audience has replaced Experience Level to better identify who should attend each session.
The ASTD 2007 International Conference & Exposition offers attendees the largest Expo in the industry, and the best networking opportunity for suppliers to network with an audience that craves the latest in tools and products to help build their training programs.
