What does "50th percentile" and "75th percentile" mean?
What does "50th percentile" and "75th percentile" mean as it relates to pay analysis? If you are paying at the 50th percentile of competitive practice, it means that 50% of organizations are paying more than you are for a specific job and 50% are paying less. If you are paying at the 70th percentile of competitive practice, you are paying more for people on that job than 75% of other organizations with people on similar jobs.
