The fundamental question I want to address is this: What do we need to do to effectively communicate compensation policy?

We will get into a certain number of design issues and compensation issues, which are unavoidable when we are in the compensation area, but our real focus is on communicating what it is you are doing to your managers and to your employees.

The agenda today is based on a set of building blocks rather than on a linear 1,2,3,4. When Tony and I were planning this it seemed to me that there were a number of different things we wanted to cover, things like communication methods, technology, some underlying organizational issues like trust issues and justice issues, specific problems that you are going to tackle like how you communicate profit sharing (which at times is a complicated area) and various other challenges. As we go through this, I hope we will work together to give you some ideas that will help you in your own challenges in communicating compensation to your different stakeholders.
