California Appellate Court Protects Employers Who Allow Tips for Dishwashers

The California Court of Appeal in Etheridge v. Reins International California, Inc. has held that mandatory tip-pooling policies that allow tips to be shared with staff who do not provide direct table service are enforceable. California restaurant employers and other employers that allow tips would be well advised to review, and if necessary, amend mandatory tip-pooling policies. Littler Mendelson shares more.
