Buck Consultants, is hosting a free cyberconference on business preparedness for an avian flu pandemic on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 1:00pm ET.

The webcast introduces results from Buck Consultants´ survey on avian flu preparedness.

Buck Consultants, an ACS company and one of the world´s leading human resource and benefits consulting firms, is hosting a free cyberconference "Business Preparedness for an Avian Flu Pandemic:  Current Understanding, Business Planning Issues, and Findings from Buck´s Avian Flu Pandemic Survey."  The webcast takes place on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 1:00pm ET.

Registration for the event can be done online at http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?p=irol-eventDetails&c=87345&eventID=1199654.

This session provides a framework for understanding and planning for the risk of pandemic influenza.

The webcast introduces results from Buck Consultants´ survey on avian flu preparedness.  Conducted online in December 2005, the survey reveals that most organizations are not strategically prepared for the business disruption that will result. For example:

-Most employers´ current business continuity plans do not address the risks posed by pandemic illness

-Existing human resources policies would need to be modified for the vast majority of companies

-Fewer than one-third of non-healthcare organizations have a healthcare professional on staff.

These and other survey findings will be discussed in more detail during the webcast.

In addition to survey results, discussion topics include:  how public health authorities are preparing, how employers can assess their business impact including absenteeism and productivity disruption, educating managers and staff, communicating with employees during a pandemic, business continuity planning, and analysis of employee benefit programs.

The speakers are Phillip L. Polakoff, MD, who heads Buck´s National Clinical Consulting and Lifetime Health Strategy practice, and Connie Harden, JD, a Principal and Tax and Legal consultant at Buck.
