Brian Birnbaum joins Mercer’s investment consulting business as director of public funds

Brian J. Birnbaum, has joined Mercer’s investment consulting business as director of public funds.

“Brian is recognized across the public fund market as a thought leader and we are very pleased that he has joined Mercer,” said Jeff Schutes, US leader of Mercer’s investment consulting business, in making the announcement. “Brian will focus on developing all aspects of Mercer’s public funds business including consulting strategy, risk mitigation and further development of our expertise and intellectual leadership in this area. More broadly, this is further evidence of Mercer’s commitment to develop dedicated specialists in key areas of growth.”

Mr. Birnbaum joins Mercer in Chicago from Credit Suisse, where he was director of the investment consulting services team within the firm’s family wealth management group.  Previously, he specialized in public fund consulting with Ennis Knupp + Associates.

Mr. Birnbaum received his Bachelors in Business Administration in Finance from Loyola University Chicago. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society of Chicago.
