Old Saybrook, CT (
Vocus/
PRWEB ) April 21, 2010 -- Today,
BLR® – Business & Legal Resources the leading provider of employment, safety, and environmental compliance solutions, announced the launch of its new
BLR Green Team, the first employee-driven group at the company to promote eco-awareness, implement sustainable practices, educate employees on conservation issues with the goal of reducing BLR’s ecological footprint, and reducing overall costs. The group plans to provide resources and information developed by the Green Team to BLR employees and to existing and potential customers through educational materials and training modules.
“With growing pressure worldwide to go 'green,' companies that are prepared to demonstrate that they operate according to sustainable policies are proving to have a competitive edge: better reputation, higher retention of good employees, and increased cost savings through improved processes and decreased waste output. BLR has responded to this worldwide call, has committed itself to this corporate 'green' initiative, and plans to become a leader in sustainability for its sector and company size while, at the same time, save money and reduce its own waste,” said Ana Ellington, Senior Editor at BLR and BLR Green Team leader.
The BLR Green Team will be documenting its progress and new initiatives on a new blog at
www.blrgreenteam.com. The blog will offer articles and tips written by team members, free “how-to’s,” and links to government and nonprofit organizations. The team will also be conducting e-mail campaigns and offering webinars to assist other companies to develop and implement their own green teams.
With the official launch of the BLR Green Team, the companywide “
Shut It Off!” campaign also got under way. This campaign is reminding employees to shut off monitors when away from their desks and to shut off monitors, computers, laptops, and desk lighting at the end of each day. The team will be issuing humorous citations to individuals violating the policy, in addition to handing out recognition notices to “BLR Energy Savers” and e-mailing daily energy-saving tips to all employees. Two team members will also be conducting a PowerPoint® training presentation, “Saving Energy in the Office and Beyond,” to BLR employees.
