Beta customer Touchpaper uses InfoBasis ESM 4.5 to enhance appraisal and personal development processes

Skills management expert InfoBasis has launched an enhanced version of its Enterprise Skills Manager (ESM) software.

InfoBasis Limited | London, UK | 22-May-2006 InfoBasis ESM 4.5 now allows users to view employees' personal development plans in detail and map them against company goals, as well as producing offline skills analysis reports. The software also enables organisations to work out both individual and team training needs with complete objectivity, and assign job role ratings for appraisals.

One of the first beneficiaries of InfoBasis ESM 4.5 is IT Business Management solutions provider, Touchpaper. As part of the beta programme for this version of InfoBasis' Enterprise Skills Manager (re-branded from InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure), Touchpaper has been able to roll out a streamlined appraisal process throughout its UK offices.

In addition to allowing managers to identify particular skills requirements for specific roles and individuals' competency against those skills, InfoBasis ESM 4.5 enables organisations to easily highlight skills gaps and development requirements. This ensures that effective training and development programmes can be put in place and people's skills are used to their full potential.

"While employee goal setting and development have always been important, as a global growing company, we felt that we needed a more formalised appraisal process which provided a central and easily accessible record of appraisals. The new system is dynamic, so goals and training remain visible to managers and their teams throughout the year," said Sally Spires, HR Officer at Touchpaper. "The technology allows managers to set corporate and individual goals and cascade them to their teams, giving employees a clearer view of how their personal objectives tie in with the aims of the company."

"Organisations need to recognise that having easy access to information about their employees' capabilities, goals and aspirations is a vital component for business success," said Ashley Wheaton, CEO of InfoBasis. "InfoBasis ESM 4.5 gives an organisation the tools to manage employee appraisal, training and development data efficiently. They can then use it strategically to ensure that they have the skills in place to match organisational goals."
