“This year’s Hodes Global Network meeting was especially important considering the effects of the economic downturn, not only in the United States but across the globe,” said Alan V. Schwartz, president and CEO, Bernard Hodes Group. “Considering the worldwide economic strains, now more than ever is the time for us to share best practices and exchange ideas for cost-effective solutions for our clients to weather the soft economy and prepare for the eventual economic turnaround.”

Hodes Vice President and social networking expert Shannon Seery Gude presented information about social networking best practices in the recruiting community. According to Gude, establishing a community forum for candidates will be the foundation of relationship marketing for companies all over the world. Most new careers Web sites, according to Gude, will be built on social platforms with capabilities for content sharing, collaborating and networking. A commitment to social networking enables a company to monitor its employer brand reputation, differentiate one employer from another and builds relationships with potential candidates early in the recruiting process.

In news from critical emerging markets, Hodes APAC (Asia Pacific) leaders Chris Plowman and Rob Dean reviewed new Hodes solutions in China for HSBC, Microsoft, McDonalds, Intel and Caterpiller. Hodes work covered several key areas including employer brand messaging which resonates with Chinese workers and candidates, developing a strong candidate pipeline, and utilizing new emerging technologies to reach potential candidates, such as mobile phone marketing.

This year’s guest speaker, Sal Iannuzzi, Chairman and CEO of Monster, reviewed the Monster offering on a global scale and stressed the importance of Monster partnering with agencies, such as Hodes, for continued mutual success and customer benefit.

Presentations were also given on the use of Prediction Markets and Wisdom-of-Crowds technology in Denmark by Hodes Global partner Ricky Raaholt and Employer Branding best practices in the U.S. by Mark Hornung, SVP, Branding. A review of global marketing efforts as well as ‘The New Voices Project’, soon to be released Hodes research on millenials in the U.S, was given by Annette Browdy, Hodes SVP, Director, Marketing Communications.

Countries and regions represented at this year’s Bernard Hodes Global Network meeting included APAC (China, Hong Kong and Thailand), Australia/New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Eastern Europe, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
