(PRWeb) March 8, 2007 -- Now in its fourth year, the Sunday Times 100 Best Small companies to work for survey - published on the 4th of March - once again illustrates the benefits for employees who work for these outstanding organizations, but what does this mean for customers and clients who work with them?

Roy Bowles, Managing Director of meta-morphose International said "The objective of every SME should be to become indispensable to their client or customer. This can only be done by consistently delivering on your promise, and by making best practice a matter of principle, SME's ensure that their clients get the best service possible, because employees who genuinely and passionately believe in what they do, guarantee their clients will feel looked after."

Only 100 companies out of almost 350 that entered made this year's list, with almost 29,000 employees surveyed. The top 100 companies embody best practice in terms of leadership, personal growth, management, and five other "factors" that helped small companies beat bigger firms in every area.

According to the Best Companies findings, the reasons for this are simple. Inspirational leadership by passionate individuals who lead by example, really listen to their employees and care about their well being, are far more likely to get the best out of their work force.

In addition, the importance of these SME's to the British Economy was clearly outlined in this year's survey - SME's are beating larger companies in some surprising areas - staff on average are happier and feel they are getting a better (fairer) deal concerning pay and benefits than in larger organizations.

"Raising the standards of a company has to be a core value", continued Roy Bowles, "customers need to be assured that companies are constantly refining their processes to ensure they meet the standards necessary to compete in today's marketplace. How many of us reject a company because of poor service? The success of an organization is directly linked to the well being of their workforce; staff who are neglected through lack of training, coaching and support soon lose interest in their work, which leads to lower service levels."

Developing a company's work force through proper training and development is crucial, but the survey also reveals that the combinations of all eight factors defined by the survey are important to an engaged work force - and a satisfied client.

Congratulations to all Best Companies who prove that the real winners are their clients.
