Phoenix, ARIZ. - Feb. 9 - The law firm of Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, P.C. today announced that Anoma Phanthourath has been named a shareholder in the firm and will continue to focus on business litigation in the firm´s Phoenix office, which she joined in April 2004.

Phanthourath´s specialties include litigation involving breaches of employment agreements, real estate agreements, service and purchase agreements, and business torts, such as negligent hiring, negligent supervision, and fraud. Her client base includes international real estate developers, worldwide hospitality chains, Fortune 500 Companies, city governments, school and hospital districts, religious institutions, contractors and developers, and small business owners.
As a civic leader, Phanthourath serves on the City of Phoenix Citizens Bond Executive Committee, the Arizona Fair Housing Center Board of Directors, and as President of the Phoenix Texas Exes Alumni Association. She was Commissioner of the Pacific Rim Advisory Council and chaired the Asian Business Expo. She most recently served on the Maricopa County Bar Association Board of Directors and the Arizona Women Lawyers Association Steering Committee. She is also a member of Junior League of Phoenix, writes a column for the Asian SUNews, and serves on the editorial advisory board for Arizona Woman Magazine.
Widely recognized for her accomplishments, Phanthourath was the American Jewish Committee´s 2005 Recipient of the Judge Learned Hand Award for Emerging Leadership; named a "Forty Under 40" by the Phoenix Business Journal; selected as one of 15 "Up and Comers" by bizAZ Magazine; and named one of the "Best Lawyers Under 40" by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
Phanthourath and her family were wartime refugees from Laos who emigrated to the United States in 1976. She writes and speaks about the Laotian-American experience and was received last year as a guest of the Laotian Embassy. Phanthourath has been featured several times for her Life To-Do List, most recently crossing off her list running a marathon and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
She earned her bachelor´s degrees in History and Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from the University of Arizona. She has been admitted to practice law in Arizona since 1998, and is also licensed to practice in Nevada where her family resides.
