MT. LAUREL, NJ. – March 27, 2008– Corporate Synergies, a full-service independent benefits consultant and brokerage firm, today announced their support with SaVes4ALS’ Dining & Dancing with the Stars event to help build awareness and funding for The ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter.

ALS, the incurable disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a rapidly progressive, incurable neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. Eventually, all muscles under voluntary control are affected, and patients lose their strength and the ability to move their arms, legs and body. When muscles in the diaphragm and chest wall fail, patients lose the ability to breathe without ventilator support. As many as 30,000 Americans have ALS, and an estimated 5,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with the disease each year. There is no known cause of the disease.

The goal of the event is to raise funds to purchase a handicapped accessible van for the Greater Philadelphia Chapter which will be named “The ALS Iron Horse Express”.   The event will be held April 14, 2008 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm at The Field House on Filbert Street in Philadelphia.  Meals will be prepared from Philadelphia’s own top eight chefs from The Field House, The White Dog Cafe, GiGi's Restaurant & Lounge, Mission Grille, Public House, and The Fountain Room at the Four Seasons.  The dancing stars for the event will include Garry Cobb, Hugh Douglass, Ike Reese, Mitch Williams, Dave Shultz and The Mystery Dancer. Philadanco is the featured dance company.  The Master of Ceremonies is Michael Barkann of Comcast SportsNet.   Corporate Sponsors include Corporate Synergies, The Philadelphia Business Journal, Wilmington Trust, Chapman Auto Group, GBCA and Thomas Jefferson University.
