FAQ – How do we deal with drinking during their breaks?
Q. Can we prohibit employees from consuming alcohol during their breaks?
A. To begin with you should create a substance abuse policy that prohibits employees from consuming alcohol during work hours, on work premises or working while under the influence. Once created, the policy should be communicated to all employees. If an employee should consume alcohol during their beaks after the policy has been implemented, disciplinary action should be taken. I have included a link to a sample substance abuse policy that you can use as a template to creating your own.
