CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Nov. 27, 2007) – Unum (NYSE:UNM) announced that Kathy Owen has been appointed chief information officer for its Unum US division.
Owen was formerly senior vice president of Information Technology Business Applications. In her new capacity, Owen will continue to lead the business applications areas and will assume responsibility for IT operations, risk management and corporate systems.
Owen joined the former Provident Companies, a Unum predecessor, in 1975. In her 32-year tenure, she has had numerous IT leadership roles where she has been instrumental in bringing new business platforms to production and introducing contemporary management practices to the Unum IT organization.
Additionally, Brent Rogers, formerly senior vice president of operations and corporate systems, has been named chief technology officer for Unum US, reporting to Owen. Rogers has been with the company since 1984.
“These moves come at an exciting time for the IT area and for the entire Unum US organization,” said Bob Best, chief operating officer for Unum US. “Under the leadership of Kathy and Brent, our IT organization will continue to enable Unum US to retain and build upon its strong position in the marketplace.”
Owen and Rogers are based at the company’s Chattanooga headquarters.
