Buck Consultants, an ACS company and one of the world’s leading human resource and benefits consulting firms, today announced that Tammy Shelton and Kate Van Hulzen have been selected by Business Insurance magazine to its 2007 list of “Women to Watch.”
NEW YORK: August 9, 2007 – Buck Consultants, an ACS company and one of the world’s leading human resource and benefits consulting firms, today announced that Tammy Shelton and Kate Van Hulzen have been selected by Business Insurance magazine to its 2007 list of “Women to Watch.”
Shelton, based in Dallas, is a principal and managing director of Buck’s retirement consulting practice. Van Hulzen is a principal and communication practice leader in Buck’s Los Angeles office.
Business Insurance editors selected 50 women from hundreds of nominations. Those chosen represent senior executives and innovators doing outstanding work in commercial insurance, risk management, employee benefits, and related fields.
“The selection process took several weeks and applied criteria including: professional achievements within the past three years, influence on the marketplace, and contributions to the advancement of women in business,” said Regis Coccia, editor of Business Insurance, in the July 30, 2007 issue that contained the report. “We consider the Women to Watch a starting point, not an endpoint, for discussing the importance of women in the industry.”
In selecting Shelton, Business Insurance noted that she has worked with some of the nation’s largest corporations on their pension programs, and serves on Buck Consultants’ Leadership Council. Shelton is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and has 25 years of consulting experience.
“I am honored to be among the 50 Women to Watch selected this year,” said Shelton. “The magazine cited my philosophy of putting clients’ needs first. This approach has enabled our business relationships to prosper, and has fostered a Buck culture that develops successful careers for our younger consultants.”
Van Hulzen is cited by Business Insurance for creating award-winning communication programs that increase the effectiveness of employee rewards. Her expertise includes developing communications that address the unique needs of Spanish-speaking employees.
“I am inspired by my clients’ success,” said Van Hulzen. “Therefore, our talented team here at Buck always focuses on the strategy and implementation that delivers the best results for our clients and their employees.”
“We congratulate Tammy and Kate and are pleased Business Insurance has recognized their outstanding contributions to their clients and to Buck,” said Jan K. Grude, president and executive managing director of Buck Consultants.
