WESTLAKE, Ohio – November 9, 2006 – Northwestern University’s Forum for People Performance Management & Measurement has honored Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) with its 2006 Performance Through People Award.
The award formally recognizes Nordson’s commitment to the principles of people performance management (PPM) and the company’s ability to align, integrate, and optimize the role that all its employees worldwide play in helping meet customer needs and achieve organizational objectives.
Nordson’s Vice President of Human Resources Bruce Fields accepted the award during the Forum’s first national conference on people performance management, recently held at McCormick Center South in conjunction with Marketing Days and The Motivation Show.
“It is an honor to accept this award from the Forum, which has generated substantial research and knowledge about the burgeoning business field of people performance management,” Fields said. “Nordson’s people performance strategies arose from our unwavering commitment to our customers. We invest time and other resources to recruit talented people who can deliver solutions to meet customers’ needs.”
According to Fields, Nordson’s culture places people performance and people management as keys to corporate performance. He directly correlates this philosophy with Nordson’s 13 percent annual sales growth rate since 1965.
Forum co-founder Bruce Bolger said, “Nordson Corporation truly embodies the spirit of people performance management throughout its entire organization. Nordson has implemented a work environment that clearly recognizes the impact its employees and other stakeholders have on the financial results and overall success of the organization.” He concluded, “As one of the most important business issues of this decade, people performance management has emerged as more organizations discover the value of engaging all people critical to its business.”
Fields categorized Nordson’s successful people performance strategy into five components:
High-Performing and Successful Organization
Stimulating Work & Career Opportunities
Effective Global Leadership
Positive Work and Life Balance
Corporate Culture/Values & Expectations
Past winners of the Performance Through People Award include Marriott International, Fifth Third Bank of Chicago, Southwest Airlines, The Container Store, and University of Michigan Medical Group.
