NORTH CAROLINA PROBLEM GAMBLING PROGRAM SELECTS BENSINGER, DUPONT & ASSOCIATES

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Problem Gambling Program has selected Bensinger, DuPont & Associates (BDA) to provide its expanded problem gambling helpline services.
September 14, 2007 - The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Problem Gambling Program has selected Bensinger, DuPont & Associates (BDA) to provide its expanded problem gambling helpline services. The expanded North Carolina Problem Gambling Helpline refers callers to free outpatient treatment for a limited number of sessions. A BDA clinician will connect the caller with a North Carolina-funded treatment resource for problem gambling assistance and provide case management to ensure the caller receives the appropriate help.  State officials believe this will increase the number of helpline callers accessing treatment resources.

The N.C. Problem Gambling Program is operated by the state Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (MH/DD/SAS).

“Adding case management to traditional helpline services is critical in ensuring individuals get the assistance they need to overcome their gambling problem.  We are excited and proud to be an integral part of such an innovative program,” said Marie Apke, BDA Senior Vice President.

“The N.C. MH/DD/SAS Division has established a progressive program that streamlines treatment access by connecting callers quickly with therapists specializing in problem gambling issues, thereby increasing the likelihood callers will get the help they need,” adds Apke. BDA and North Carolina will be studying the results of the expanded service.

Bensinger, DuPont & Associates is a privately-owned company that provides employee assistance program and work life services, specialized helpline services to address concerns such as compulsive gambling, substance abuse services and a range of specialized programs to address concerns like grief and loss, and organizational change.
