Greensboro, NC, May 12, 2005 – Employers United for a Stronger America (EUSA) (www.employersunited.com) is creating an online database of support available to National Guard and Reservists, their families, and their employers. This national clearinghouse will be the comprehensive resource for information about services from governmental and non-governmental organizations. The EUSA Resource Center will provide a complete one-stop listing of a wide range of support programs.
“Employers United for a Stronger America decided to create this database when we discovered that there is no central listing of support services,” explained Roger Herman, President of EUSA. “Employers across the country have been understanding and generous in relationships with their employees who have been called to active duty, but employers can’t do it all.” Numerous other organizations provide various kinds of support, but there has been very little coordination of benefits, promotion of assistance available, or accessibility to providers.
EUSA seeks input from non-governmental groups about what assistance they provide. “Various government agencies provide information for employers and veterans, but the agency websites generally only present information relative to their charter. With the country being at war, many organizations are offering help. This single site database will provide information on assistance from national non-profit groups, religious organizations, local civic groups, schools, etc.” said Herman. The Resource Center will be available on EUSA’s website, www.employersunited.org.
“The research is well underway,” said Ted Daywalt, Vice President of EUSA and manager of the project. “EUSA was fortunate to engage Nicole Kapsar, an intern from Hiram College in Ohio, to initiate the database development. This project will be an ongoing effort as we are constantly learning of new organizations offering assistance both to employers and to the active duty military, Guard, Reserve and veterans. We anticipate the database to be live on the EUSA site by the end of June.” The website address is www.employersunited.org.
EUSA is asking the public to assist in this project by forwarding to EUSA information on any organization offering assistance. Any organization that wants to be added to the database should forward its information to Nicole[at]employersunited.org for consideration.
“Hiram College is proud to be a part of this project,” said Thomas V. Chema, the president of Hiram College. “This internship gives our students practical experience in a real world research project that will assist tens of thousands of veterans and employers. We look forward to being a continuing partner with EUSA in this work.”
