Minneapolis, May 10, 2005-Fiserv Health announced today that Elaine Mischler, M.D., currently the executive vice president and chief medical officer (CMO) for Avidyn Health, will take on additional responsibilities as chief medical officer for the Fiserv Health Group.
As CMO, Mischler will advise Fiserv Health business units on clinical issues, participating in strategic and operational policy planning and lead strategic product development in care management. She will also provide clinical due diligence for health-product-related acquisitions. “Dr. Mischler is a well-respected thought leader on disease management concepts,” said Fiserv Health President Jim Cox. “She brings a wealth of valuable experience and insight to this position and we’re excited to add her expertise to our senior management staff.” Prior to helping launch Avidyn Health, a Fiserv Health care management company, in 2004, Mischler was a medical director for Wausau Benefits, responsible for medical direction and program development for a spectrum of health management programs since 1998. She has been interviewed by numerous publications on philosophy, content and outcome measurement of disease management programs. She has served as the director of the Cystic Fibrosis/Pulmonary Center at the University of Wisconsin, medical director of the Pediatric Pulmonology Division of the Department of Pediatrics at UW-Madison and professor of pediatrics at UW-Madison and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Mischler received her M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, conducted her pediatric residency at the University of California-San Diego and completed a pulmonary fellowship at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
