ASPPA and DOL Jointly Host Employee Benefits Conference

The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) and the U. S. Department of Labor (DOL) will jointly host “DOL Speaks: The 2007 Employee Benefits Conference,” on May 24-25 in Washington, D.C. at the Capital Hilton Hotel, 1001 16th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036. U.S. Secretary of Labor, Elaine L. Chao, will be featured as the luncheon speaker on Thursday, May 24.
May 23, 2007 (Arlington, VA)—The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) and the U. S. Department of Labor (DOL) will jointly host “DOL Speaks: The 2007 Employee Benefits Conference,” on May 24-25 in Washington, D.C. at the Capital Hilton Hotel, 1001 16th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036. U.S. Secretary of Labor, Elaine L. Chao, will be featured as the luncheon speaker on Thursday, May 24.
 
“This conference is a great opportunity to get the most up-to-date information through comprehensive educational workshops and access to industry experts. Workshops are designed to help benefit professionals maintain excellence and quality in the work performed for retirement and welfare plans,” said Brian H. Graff, Esq., APM, Executive Director/CEO of ASPPA.

Every session will feature both private and public sector speakers presenting their unique perspectives on issues relating to Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA). Conference topics will include the latest regulatory and legislative updates on ERISA; DOL audit enforcement; retirement plan and group health and welfare plan issues; fiduciary matters; fundamentals of running an ERISA plan and much more. Benefits professionals can earn continuing professional education credits. 

The conference, featuring general sessions and concurrent workshops, begins Thursday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m. and concludes Friday, May 25 at 12:30 p.m.
