CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 23, 2006) - UnumProvident continues to lead the disability income protection insurance marketplace, according to the 2005 JHA group and individual disability market surveys.
In 2005, the company maintained more than $3.9 billion in premium for existing group and individual cases and generated approximately $267 million of new sales. As measured by inforce premium, UnumProvident holds a 22.5 percent share in the group disability market, and a 36 percent share in the individual market. It is the 30th consecutive year that UnumProvident or one of its predecessor companies has led the group disability income protection industry.
