Philadelphia, June 20, 2006 - Lincoln National Corporation (NYSE:LNC), the parent company of the Lincoln Financial Group (LFG) of companies, announced today that Paul M. Swanson has assumed his duties as Head of Sales, Intermediary Channel, of the Lincoln Financial Group Employer Markets division. Lincoln Employer Markets, under the direction of President Westley V. Thompson, is a leader in the defined contribution and group benefits marketplace. Swanson, based in Philadelphia, reports to Don Roberson, Head of Distribution for Lincoln Employer Markets, and is responsible for building and managing distribution for Lincoln´s intermediary channel, with aggressive recruitment as a top priority.

As Head of Sales, Intermediary Channel, Swanson will spearhead Lincoln Employer Markets´ recruiting in the wirehouse, independent planner and TPA areas. Swanson also will help consolidate Employer Markets´ retirement business and increase market share. Additionally, Swanson will oversee the introduction of new Employer Markets products into the defined contribution and group benefits marketplace.
Swanson comes to Lincoln Financial Group from Wealth Management Systems, Inc. where he served as senior vice president, sales and marketing. Prior to his position at Wealth Management Systems, Inc., Swanson was senior vice president, national sales, at Prudential Retirement where he managed the distribution of defined contribution products and was responsible for field sales, inside sales, consultant relations and key accounts management. Before moving to Prudential, Swanson was senior vice president, national sales director, at CitiStreet where he managed the distribution of 401(k) products through the various Citigroup distribution channels.
