MassMutual Captures No. 1 Ranking in 2007 InformationWeek 500 'Information Security/Privacy' Category
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- MassMutual Financial Group
has been awarded the No. 1 ranking in this year's InformationWeek 500
"Information Security/Privacy" category for its proprietary information
security management system. MassMutual's award is one of only five "Leaders in
Innovation" category awards identified by InformationWeek, namely,
Productivity, Information Security, Supply Chain Innovation, Emerging
Technology and Customer Intimacy. MassMutual also earned an overall ranking of
No. 66 on the InformationWeek 500.

MassMutual's No. 1 ranking was revealed at the InformationWeek 500 Annual
Gala Awards Ceremony in Tucson, Ariz. on September 18. Importantly, this
represents MassMutual's second consecutive year capturing the No. 1 ranking in
one of the major categories identified by InformationWeek. In 2006,
MassMutual's e4(SM) wireless retirement plan enrollment technology was named
the "#1 Wireless Innovation" by InformationWeek.

For the past 19 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the
nation's most innovative users of information technology with its prestigious
annual listing. Winners were selected based on essays that were evaluated,
scored and combined with an overall score to create a framework for
identifying the winners in each category.

"As a financial services provider, MassMutual retains highly sensitive
personal information. We are very proud to be recognized as the information
security category leader, particularly at a time when the security and privacy
of personal data is so critical," says Bruce Bonsall, vice president and chief
information security officer for MassMutual. "Our entire team is committed to
protecting the privacy and security of our infrastructure and the personal
data stored there so that everyone who does business with MassMutual can do so
with confidence," he adds.

MassMutual's proprietary flexible and expandable solution is based on the
Archer Technologies SmartSuite Framework. MassMutual's award-winning
information security system provides the ability to continuously improve the
process for identifying and mitigating data security risks at the rapid pace
necessary in today's environment. By aggregating security risks into a
holistic picture and tying security risk to business criticality, MassMutual
is able to anticipate and quickly identify key risk areas affecting data
protection and can prioritize efforts to resolve issues as quickly and
efficiently as possible.

"Customer confidence and our reputation in the industry are critical to
the continuing success of our business. Prioritizing risks is now based on a
more current, holistic picture of the enterprise and existing risks, thus
improving quality of decisions and enabling economies of scale when designing
security solutions and process improvements," adds Scott Reed, corporate vice
president of information systems for MassMutual Financial Group.

"The InformationWeek 500 honors today's leading companies who set the
benchmark for business technology strategies and projects," said
InformationWeek vice president and publisher, John Siefert. "We'd like to
extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500 honorees. This
group has prompted fascinating discussion on some of the most forward-looking
business technology initiatives to date."
