FMI Introduces Mid-Size Construction Compensation Surveys

Three New Products Provide Comprehensive, Market Niche Compensation & Benefits Data and Analysis for the Construction Industry
RALEIGH, N.C., January 18, 2008 – Analytical/FMI, a business unit of FMI Corporation, management consultants and investment bankers to the construction industry, introduces three new survey products to the construction industry—the Mid-size Construction Professional Compensation Survey, Mid-size Executive Compensation Survey and Mid-size Construction Benefits and Pay Practices Survey.

The new FMI surveys will provide compensation and benefits data for companies that are less than $750 million and under in revenue. According to Sean Taylor, FMI National Practice Leader of Compensation, “no other compensation product available for contractors has this level of sophistication, breadth and accuracy.”

“The competitive labor market is an issue on everyone’s mind and a problem that will not go away anytime soon. It is in every company’s best interest to be proactive in its evaluation of this competitive landscape and determine the proper rewards to attract and retain star talent,” said Taylor. “Benchmarking compensation and benefit practices against the marketplace is a critical part of this process. Inadequate compensation levels can create frustration among employees, increase turnover and hinder your firm’s ability to attract new talent. Additionally, it diminishes the perceived value of other differentiating rewards like career development, performance recognition and work/life balance.”

The standard and custom surveys produced by Analytical/FMI are recognized as the go-to resource of many of the world’s largest construction, engineering and environmental firms looking to acquire compensation-related data. Each participating company receives a custom report, benchmarking its base salary, bonus and other compensation/benefits practices. This information can help companies with salary administration, incentive compensation, executive compensation and other compensation and benefits activities.

Details of the new FMI compensation surveys are as follows:

The Mid-size Construction Professional Compensation Survey. This survey provides base salary and bonus compensation information for full-time exempt employees. The survey covers 48 positions in 20 job families.

The Mid-size Executive Compensation Survey. This survey provides compensation data for corporate CEO, corporate staff positions and important business unit staff positions. The survey covers 19 corporate positions and eight division positions.

The Mid-size Construction Benefits and Pay Practices Survey. This survey provides information on non-cash compensation and pay practices. This survey covers paid time off, work/life benefits, turnover, retirement plans, severance plans, health and welfare benefits, section 125, executive and fringe benefits, salary increase/merit budget, college graduate hiring rates, relocation policies, bonus incentive plans, automobile/mileage reimbursement and other pay practices.

In June 2007, FMI Corporation acquired Analytical Consulting Companies and formed the business unit Analytical/FMI. By doing this, FMI Corporation gained 30 years of experience in survey design/administration and acquired the participant base to be the premier provider of compensation-data services to the engineering and construction industries.
