GLEN ALLEN, VA (PRWEB) March 30, 2006 - The Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) announces the launch of the new Career Center area of their website featuring functionality for banks to post job openings and job seekers to find banking employment opportunities in Virginia. The Career Center, located at http://www.vabankers.org/CareerCenter/CareerCenter.asp, helps the VBA fulfill its mission of providing high quality, cost effective services to member banks by providing an online community where Virginia banks can post job listings and find qualified candidates.
All banks in Virginia are members of the VBA making the Career Center a comprehensive resource for banking and finance job opportunities in Virginia. Sean DeWitt, Director of Member Services, explains the reasoning behind launching the Career Centee, "It became apparent to us that our member banks could benefit greatly from a Virginia bank-specific job board. As career track diversification increases, the need to pull from other industries will continue to grow. The Career Center will help to expand the existing pool of talent."
The Job Seekers area of the Career Center provides a variety of tools to help online job hunters find banking job opportunities in Virginia. Users can browse jobs by category, or perform a search on the database of jobs with criteria such as keyword, type of employment and job level. The Job Agent functionality allows job seekers to receive weekly email updates of all newly posted job openings that match specific search criteria. Job seekers can also post a resume so their skills and past experience can be matched up with employers´ job requirements. To access the Job Seekers area of the site directly, please visit http://careercenter.vabankers.org/search.cfm.
The Employers area is equipped with functionality to assist Virginia financial institutions with finding qualified candidates to fill job openings. The Career Center makes it easy for member banks to create a company account and post employment listings. Job seekers are encouraged to post resumes to the resume database where banks can conduct targeted, confidential searches to find candidates with job experiences that match their employment needs. Reviewing resumes yields more qualified candidates because employers are able to actively seek out job applicants based on certain skills instead of only considering candidates that apply. To visit the Employers area of the site, please go to http://careercenter.vabankers.org/post.cfm.
By attracting Job Seekers to the site, the Career Center gives Virginia banks access to a specialized talent pool of individuals seeking employment in banking and finance. The site is a cost effective way to source these candidates. "In just our second month of operation, we will have had over 2,000 individual job seekers visit the site with 86.27% representing new visits," DeWitt says. "We consistently keep over 40 open positions on the site. By being cost effective, we are able to attract smaller community banks as well as larger national banks."
