EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Two children of Atlas Van Lines employees and the daughter of an Atlas van operator will have slightly more manageable college tuition bills this semester, thanks to Atlas.
Daniel Cox, Bethany Jacobs and Dawn Wink each received a $4,000 scholarship toward his or her college education from the Evansville, Ind.-based company.
Cox, who won the Atlas Van Lines President's Scholarship, is a senior at University of Kentucky majoring in business with plans to attend law school. The Fort Mitchell, Ky., native is the son of Barbara Cox, director of marketing communications. The president's scholarship is awarded to a child of a full-time employee at Atlas' Evansville headquarters
Jacobs, a junior at Valdosta State University, won the Atlas Professional Van Operator Scholarship. The daughter of van operator John Short, Jacobs plans to earn her master's and doctorate degree in child psychology. Jacobs is originally from Knoxville, Tenn., but currently lives in Macon, Ga.
The Atlas World Group Chairman's Scholarship went to Wink, a senior at Ball State University majoring in elementary education. Wink, from Evansville, Ind., is the daughter of Janet Wink, director of corporate accounting. Any child of a full-time employee at an Atlas World Group subsidiary in the U.S. or Canada is eligible for the chairman's award.
To be eligible for all scholarships, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be entering into their junior or senior year in an accredited college or university.
