Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists Launches Job Board

The CDI profession is rapidly growing. Hospitals are realizing the importance of CDI programs, especially since the advent of Medicare Severity DRGs (MS-DRGs) and CMS' corresponding documentation and coding adjustment (DCA), or payment cut for inpatient reimbursement. Hospitals that don't have CDI programs will see a decrease in payment due to the DCA. Because of these regulatory changes, hospitals are looking to add or build to their existing CDI departments, and the ACDIS job board was launched to fill that need.

Marblehead, MA (PRWEB) June 8, 2009 -- In response to member requests and an industry need to staff up clinical documentation improvement (CDI) programs, the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) and HCPro, Inc., announced the launch of a job board for CDI specialists in April

Since the advent of Medicare Severity DRGs (MS-DRGs) and CMS' corresponding documentation and coding adjustment (DCA), payments are being cut for inpatient reimbursement. Hospitals that don't have CDI programs will see a decrease in payment due to the DCA--1.9% in 2009, and an additional 6.6% combined payment cut in fiscal years 2011 and 2012. As a result, CDI specialists are in demand.

"The CDI profession is growing rapidly and hospitals are continuing to realize the importance of CDI programs," says Brian Murphy, ACDIS director. "The ACDIS job board was created to help hospitals locate qualified professionals from around the country."

The job board is free for ACDIS members. Hospitals with a CDI-related job vacancy can post up to four openings per year. Non-ACDIS members may post openings on the job board for a $150 fee.
