MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2006--SumTotal(R)
Systems (NASDAQ:SUMT) announced that AMP, Buckman Laboratories, Humana
(NYSE:HUM) and University Health System have won this year's
ToolBook(TM) Design Awards for outstanding use of SumTotal's
simulation and interactive content authoring solution.
ToolBook helps companies create content and simulations that are
critical to the success of learning and development. With ToolBook,
organizations can craft professional, standards-based simulations,
tutorials, assessments, courses and other content without in-depth
programming skills.
The ToolBook Design Awards were given at this year's TBCON 2006,
the annual SumTotal-sponsored gathering of ToolBook users, held in
Colorado Springs from June 17-21. Platte Canyon Multimedia Software, a
leading value-added reseller of ToolBook in the United States, serves
each year as host for TBCON.
"The ToolBook Design Awards acknowledge the innovative work our
customers have accomplished with ToolBook," said Brad Crain,
SumTotal's vice president of ToolBook. "It was great to see a record
number of submissions this year from our customers around the globe,
including Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand and the
United States."
SUMMARY OF WINNERS
AMP - Best International Training
Mr. Ryan Tracey of AMP, a leading wealth management company
serving Australia and New Zealand, developed "Product Awareness -
Retail Superannuation" to improve employees' knowledge of key
financial services products. One important feature addressed the
"Payments In - Payments Out" model, which allows the learner to
explore each step of the money flow.
"ToolBook let me easily create a visually attractive, interactive,
online course that not only met training industry standards but also
met the learners' expectations," explained Tracey.
Buckman Laboratories - Best Native Application
Buckman Laboratories, with an effort led by Mr. Mauro Rech,
created "New Employee Orientation" training with ToolBook to provide
new hires with a more efficient way to learn about their organization.
Tasked with delivering ever-changing information to a global audience,
Rech used CD-ROM delivery with an auto update capability to refresh
corporate data on the fly, while minimizing network connection time.
Buckman sent training CDs to employees all around world instead of
flying them to corporate headquarters for training. Rech's solution
was impressive because of its level of personalization and ability to
address employees' need for timely and relevant new-hire information.
Humana - Best ToolBook Productivity Solution
Mr. Robert Dick and Dr. William J. Ryan share the award for Best
ToolBook Productivity Solution. Their solution guides owners of
training content through the development process, so developers can
determine the appropriate medium for the delivery of learning. Dick
and Ryan's solution analyzes data, calculates ROI and offers
recommendations on delivery media.
University Health System - Best Online Training
This award recognizes courseware deployed in HTML that
demonstrates the power of ToolBook to create engaging and effective
training content. University Health System's Mr. Don Bair used
ToolBook to create a course about an instrument called the GemStar
Pump, which dispenses pain medication at the patient's bedside.
Portions of the winning entries can be seen in the e-learning
showcase at www.toolbook.com. Winners received an award certificate as
well as an Apple iPod.
