Ameriprise Retirement Services announced today that Ward Armstrong will serve as a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, held December 11-14 in Washington DC.

The theme for the 2005 WHCoA is "The Booming Dynamics of Aging: From Awareness to Action," reflecting the changing face of aging in America.

MINNEAPOLIS, December 8, 2005---Ameriprise Retirement Services announced today that Ward Armstrong will serve as a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, held December 11-14 in Washington DC.
       
The theme for the 2005 WHCoA is "The Booming Dynamics of Aging: From Awareness to Action," reflecting the changing face of aging in America. The 2005 WHCoA is mandated by the Older Americans Act to focus on the interests and needs of current seniors as well as the 78 million baby boomers who will begin to turn 60 in 2006. The event occurs once a decade to make aging policy recommendations to the President and Congress, and assist public and private sectors promote dignity, health, independence and economic security of current and future generations of older persons.

At-Large delegates were selected by the WHCoA Policy Committee following an extensive application process. At-Large delegates represent a wide group of varied interests and professions including aging and health professionals, baby boomers, business and industry, disability, non-profit and veterans from all over the country. Twelve hundred delegates from throughout the country will participate in the 2005 WHCoA, the fifth such conference in our nation´s history. Delegates will vote on resolutions and develop implementation strategies that will help the President and Congress shape aging policies for the next ten years and beyond.
