“Following an economically trying year, many workers have weathered layoffs and budget cuts in addition to the normal, first-quarter spike in stress levels,” says Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, Chairman and CEO of ComPsych. “We’re receiving an exceptionally high volume of requests related to managing stress, whether through workplace training or through personal counseling.”

Poll Results

34 percent said – I’m very worried
40 percent said – I’m somewhat worried
26 percent said – I’m not worried

“Employers should take this opportunity to support employees, especially those who have taken on additional work,” Dr. Chaifetz added. “This can be accomplished by promoting benefits such as employee assistance and work-life programs, and helping employees develop their stress-management skills through workplace classes led by professional counselors.”
