Accenture names David Smith head of its global Talent & Organization Performance practice

Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, has named David Smith managing director of its global Talent & Organization Performance practice. Effective September 1, 2009, Smith succeeds Peter Cheese who will retire from the company August 31.
New York, August 31, 2009 - Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, has named David Smith managing director of its global Talent & Organization Performance practice. Effective September 1, 2009, Smith succeeds Peter Cheese who will retire from the company August 31.

The Accenture Talent & Organization Performance practice is a group of skilled professionals that provides human resources, talent management and learning solutions that enable clients to improve the performance of their people, their organization and their business.

Previously head of Accenture’s North America Talent & Organization Performance practice, Smith joined Accenture in 1989, and has more than twenty years experience in designing and developing talent and organization performance strategies and solutions for Fortune 500 companies. He is a guest lecturer at Wharton Business School and Babson College, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. He has recently been named to the advisory board of the Human Capital Institute, and is co-author of the upcoming book, The Workforce of One: Revolutionizing Talent Management through Customization, to be published by Harvard Business Press in 2010.

Smith is also Accenture’s executive sponsor for Harvard Graduate School of Education’s ‘Forgotten Half’ program, a program championing solutions to the increasingly urgent problem of young adults reaching the age of 25 without earning a meaningful post-secondary credential. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Masters of Business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He currently resides in Glastonbury, Connecticut, with his wife and two children.
