SEATTLE - March 9, 2006 - GiftCertificates.comTM, a leading provider of gift certificates and gifting advice to consumers, today announced the inaugural launch of its "Admin to the Rescue!" contest, a nationwide contest in search of the best example of how an administrative professional has saved an executive, a colleague or the company from a business-related mishap. The contest will be held online at www.GiftCertificates.com and anyone can nominate an admin professional (self nominations by admins are allowed) by submitting a 150-word entry explaining why he/she deserves the title of "2006 Admin to the Rescue!"
"Whether their moniker is ´administrative assistant,´ ´executive assistant´ or ´secretary,´ stellar contributors are the heart of a well-run organization," said Jill Ambrose, vice president of marketing at GiftCertificates.com. "We are looking for unsung heroes who have gone above and beyond their regular scope of duties to rescue a peer, their boss or others, at the work place. Their achievements are often not recognized, so we´d like to change this by honoring their heroic actions through this national contest."
The grand prize winner will receive a $1000 SuperCertificate ® gift, redeemable at www.GiftCertificates.com for original gift cards from hundreds of national merchants. In addition, two finalists will each receive merchant gift card prizes for their honorable mention entries.
"Recognizing an admin professionals´ achievements is important but celebrating them may be just as important," Ambrose continued. "There is a significant divergence between how Admin´s Day is currently celebrated in the office versus how admins would prefer to celebrate the occasion. According to the International Association of Administrative Professionals´ recent Web site poll, only about 10 percent of the 500 participants noted that their company observed Admin´s Day or tied it to a special event for administrative staff members. Comparatively, almost 27 percent of admins preferred a company-wide group activity. Additionally, candies, flowers or other gifts were given out by almost 13 percent of their offices, while less than 2 percent of admins preferred them."
The "Admin to the Rescue!" contest ends on April 14, 2006, and the winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced by April 24. The winner´s names and their respective entries will be posted on the GiftCertificates.com Web site. All entries are subject to the "Admin to the Rescue" contest official rules which may be found at www.GiftCertificates.com.
