2007 Market Analysis: Employers Fight to Fill High-Impact Positions

Yoh's 2007 market analysis predicts the war for technology talent will continue, increasing wages and the demand for specialized skills
Philadelphia, Pa.-January 3, 2007-The war for high-impact talent in
technology-based industries continues to rage, putting pressure on
wages to rise in the coming year. That's the result of the latest
market analysis compiled by Yoh, a leading provider of talent and
outsourcing services and a unit of Day & Zimmermann.

According to Yoh's findings, companies will have the most difficult
time in 2007 finding candidates with specialized technical skills and
specific domain and industry experience, especially for technology
services and device manufacturers in the hardware space, as well as
clinical research and R&D departments in the pharmaceutical, medical
device, and biotech spaces.

The two categories that Yoh's research suggests currently fall short on
high-impact talent-R&D and software developers-will continue to
experience this same trend next year. Specifically, the 2007 Yoh
market analysis found there will be nationwide demand in the R&D space
for clinical research associates, biostaticians, firmware engineers,
and hardware engineers. Yoh's predictions for demand in software
(Note: not all software developers) development include Business
Objects, Java and MS developers, SAS programmers, and systems
architects. Additionally, a steady stream of upgrades by ERP vendors,
as well as growing adoption of standardized enterprise SOA platforms,
are creating a significant need for qualified talent such as Oracle
and SAP consultants and experienced database administrators.

"The technology market continues to grow, which keeps pushing wages
up," says Jim Lanzalotto, Vice President of Strategy & Marketing of
Yoh. "Hiring managers are continuing to look for specialized talent to
help them keep up with maturing technology. For example, a candidate
with .Net developer skills and pharmaceutical experience is far more
engaging to a hiring manager than a candidate with the skills but not
the market expertise or experience."

Yoh's 2007 market analysis also examined the technology skills in
greatest demand by employers in 12 major U.S. technology hubs. Yoh
found some of the hottest regional jobs to be:

* Atlanta: Java Developer, MS Developer, Project Manager

* Austin/Dallas/Houston: .NET C# Developer, Java/J2EE Architect and
Developer, SQL DBA

* Boston: Business Systems Analyst, Project Manager, Clinical Research
Associate

* Charlotte: Java Developer, MS Developer, Project Manager

* Cincinnati/Cleveland: SAP consultant, Oracle consultant, Oracle DBA

* Indianapolis: SAP consultant, Oracle consultant, Oracle DBA

* Northern New Jersey: ERP Consultant, CRM Project Manager, .NET
Developer

* Philadelphia: Network Security Specialist, Java Developer, .NET
developer

* Phoenix: .NET Developer, Project Manager, Java/J2EE Architect and
Developer

* Research Triangle Park: Clinical Research Associate, Clinical Project
Manager, Clinical Data Manager

* Seattle: Software Developer Engineer, Hardware/Firmware Engineer, MS
Developer: .NET, C#, VB6

* Silicon Valley: Firmware Engineer, ASIC Design Engineer, Embedded
Engineer

* Southern California: Software Engineer-Applications Development,
Software Engineer-Embedded Systems, Aerospace Engineer

In examining employment trends, Yoh's analysis found that the nation's
strong rate of employment is drying up the available talent in the
labor pool. The company also noted that hiring managers are reaching
beyond their geographic boundaries, realizing that high-impact
technology consultants no longer need to be on site.

"Heading into 2007, hiring managers will need a foolproof battle plan
to hire top talent with expertise in their specific industry," says
Lanzalotto. "And to mobilize effectively, HR leaders need to be
proactive in their talent acquisition efforts, and concentrate on
developing an engaging employer brand with attractive compensation
packages that will draw in the best qualified talent from the shallow
labor pool."
