  The Confidence Factor
A strong leader must be self-confident. Too many people are intellectually or technically brilliant, but don’t have the confidence to carry that through into real leadership. Encouraging self-confidence in your people will make them more assertive in their actions, presentations and analysis.

One of the most important skills a leader can grasp is how to see the world from other people’s points of view, to think about the issues and demands others are facing, and not take an egoistic perspective. By putting themselves in another’s place, leaders will make deeper and more effective connections with those people.   It can be some time after making the transition from management to leadership before other people feel comfortable treating individuals in a way that reflects their new responsibilities. However, once this transition has happened, those people will be sought for their opinion and listened to in a very different manner than they had been before.   If a person appears to lack confidence, other people can wrongly assume they are lacking in competence too. Therefore it is important to project confidence at all times.
