  Leading People Through Change
Times of change often require a leader to take their department through an uneasy transitioning period. In such times a leader needs to be aware that no matter how great the vision, they will not get there without the buy-in of their people.

If you are trying to change an organization it is imperative to understand the importance of recognizing the intrinsic value that already exists within it, rather than changing everything for change’s sake.   When taking on a new role there is a period in which it is possible to change virtually anything. Make changes immediately and you can always make changes; miss the opportunity, and change will be much more difficult.   While change is often vital in business, it should not happen too often. Going through too many change programs confuses people, so if change has to happen make sure it operates as a series of incremental steps rather than a continuous movement where the company is always in a state of flux.

Beyond Code: Learn to Distinguish Yourself in 9 Simple Steps
In a world of specialization - by both businesses and the people who work in them - it should not be a surprise that business books are also becoming more specialized and directed toward a more narrow audience. With Beyond Code, Rajesh Setty has produced a book about getting ahead that is directed at IT professionals. Its purpose is to help them distinguish themselves from the growing crowd of IT consultants and project managers.

Through personal examples, insights gained from his experience, and simple exercises, Setty shows how to listen to others, how to build bridges, how to create bold strategies, and how to build a personal brand. Even though this book is directed at IT professionals, it has advice that will benefit anyone.
