The Healthiest Workplace Challenge at the
Employers of Excellence 2009 National Conference
Each year, corporations lose billions of dollars due to ineffective leaders, stressed or sick employees, or projects that simply go astray. HR executives play a critical and essential role in helping corporations understand the value of having a healthy workplace. As part of our continuing commitment to the improvement and education of HR professionals, HR.com is launching a "Healthiest Workplace Challenge" that is open to any firm that is committed to driving bottom line results to their organization and to creating a healthier work environment.

The Challenge is a new element being introduced at the 2009 Employers of Excellence Conference, being held January 27-29, 2009 in Las Vegas at the luxurious Green Valley Ranch Resort.

The Healthiest Workplace Challenge is modeled after reality-TV shows such as "America's Biggest Loser". Participating companies will be grouped by industry and/or size, and will compete against each other to see which one can make the most improvements in one, two, or all of three key areas in the course of a year.

We believe that by providing a contest, the chances of keeping companies engaged and on track are increased, and that regular updates, check-ins, and media exposure will provide companies with the incentive that is typically lacking in an independent program implementation.

Corporate Responsibility
Companies are becoming increasingly aware that they have a corporate responsibility to provide assistance to their employees to help them:

•Improve or maximize their health and well being,
•Become better leaders and corporate citizens, and
•Help them to achieve success in their careers

How Does this Fit with the Employers of Excellence Conference?
The Employers of Excellence Conference will be the venue to introduce and kickoff the Healthiest Workplace Challenge and will provide all attendees – both Challenge participants and non-participants – with detailed information in each area they can use to create their success.

Our 2009 Conference will focus on each of these three critical areas. In addition to our Keynotes (6 in total), practitioners and industry experts who have been there, done that and measured the results of their initiatives will lead the workshops (over two dozen). Participants for each workshop will be placed in groups depending on what track they are on. The Strategy Series Executive Track for VP’s and Directors will focus on high level metrics and programs across the organization and the Reality Series General Track for HR front-line staff will focus on plan details and how to implement them in the workplace.

All workshops will be led interactively, and where appropriate, will provide a walk through of a company case study with metrics and hands-on participation. This approach will provide participants with much greater detail and concrete information than a traditional workshop presentation. Participants will leave the conference with the tools they will need to measure success, action plans and a long-term coach to help them through the program implementation in their workplace.

The conference has been designed this year with two tracks: the Strategy Executive Track for Senior HR Executives, Directors, and VP’s and the very affordable Reality General Track for HR staff. This was done to provide a VP or Director of HR with an opportunity to bring two or three of their key staff to the general track so that at the end of the conference, they can return to their organization as a team and begin their Challenge.

In each of the two tracks, there will be differences not just in the depth and detail of the content but also in how the attendees will participate.
