Look at the statistics and you realize your workforce is unhealthy: 62% of employees are overweight, among those, 26% are obese. Additionally, 33% of employees show signs of clinical depression. This workshop will introduce human resources staff and managers to the benefits of worksite wellness programming and simple ways to engage employees in programs and initiatives. Worksites have much to gain by offering wellness programming as these programs impact both the top line and bottom line of organizations; top line revenue increases via reduced absenteeism and presenteeism, and bottom line costs are reduced through the containment of healthcare costs. The key to impacting the health of an entire workforce is to implement comprehensive, results-oriented programs and policies. Results-oriented programs include multiple components that are strategically integrated. These strategies should include policies, incentives, on-site programming and high-touch lifestyle change programs. Further, Return-on-Investment (ROI) can be enhanced by including dependents in the programming as they account for 60% of healthcare costs.

Webinar participants will be able to analyze their own wellness programming, identify gaps and solutions, and develop comprehensive models for an effective wellness program. We will also discuss ways to reach and engage more employees and their families in wellness programming.

The intense competition and consolidation in the dining industry has forced businesses to continually seek out greater efficiencies and improved yield. As such, effective labor management has become more important than ever for the food and beverage industry.

Management is faced with the daily challenges of increasing guest satisfaction while minimizing employee turnover, and improving the business’ bottom line. Labor management issues such as optimal employee scheduling, wage and hour compliance, and the administration of new legislation such as the Affordable Care Act has forced many organizations to seek out more comprehensive technology beyond the features of existing Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

Additionally, with labor costs being the largest, variable operational expense for food and beverage organizations (as high as 40% - 50% of costs), management is challenged with ways to reduce labor cost spending while decreasing employee turnover and not jeopardizing customer satisfaction. A comprehensive workforce management solution equips management with tools to monitor real-time staffing information, analyze budget performance and control labor costs, all while continuing to focus on increasing customer satisfaction and profit margins.

Within this session we will highlight the importance of managing labor, increasing labor effectiveness, ways to ensure labor compliance and how to motivate employees in a food and beverage setting. We will discuss strategies for operating your workforce more efficiently and ways to increase overall productivity and profitability.

The goal of this session is also to outline the labor management challenges facing the food and beverage industry and the emerging need for organizations to adopt more sophisticated workforce management solutions in order to stay competitive and to operate more profitability.

In this interactive workshop you will learn what you can do to promote the changing of unhealthy habits – such as smoking, poor diet, over-eating, lack of exercise – as well as emotional factors like lack of respect and good humor in the workplace, all the while creating a healthy physical and psychological environment for your employees.

You will learn about the recent scientific studies on the mind-body connection and how our thoughts and emotions affect our life, workplace relationships and our productivity. You will learn about “emotional contagion” and the importance of having a positive attitude throughout the day, as well as how to promote good mood and healthy habits in the workplace. You will also learn how to invite employees’ participation without “pushing” your agenda by increasing their awareness around those issues, and having them willingly join you in achieving wellness in the workplace.

You’ll learn specific coaching, imagery and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques that you can immediately and safely implement in the workplace to help employees obtain clarity around what habits need to be changed, control “negative voices in the mind”, develop an attitude of gratitude, and create healthy new habits. We will also discuss how to spot “bad behavior” and healthy, yet effective ways to respond to those who might be resistant to these ideas of health and wellness and not ready to let go of their unhealthy habits. You’ll also learn how to offer a support system that your employees may need in overcoming unhealthy habits, helping them in designing action steps and managing their progress.

Engagement is the key in wellness programs- but before you ask your employees to get involved in another wellness program, they need to understand the thought patterns that support health and what keeps people 'stuck". Harnessing behavior is the missing link. Thought patterns are the bedrock of change- how to assess and address the habits, patterns, beliefs and values that keep us from moving forward and going the distance in health. Unless employees have a 'battery pack' they can plug into - they will not have enough emotion to go the distance and they will remain 'double bound.' This is change engineering at its core-

As part of the rich history on the topic of identifying and developing ‘high potential’ employees, literally thousands of books, articles, and research papers have been written. Considering this weight of research, “pet theories” abound, with as many different ideas on how and what to do as there are HR leaders in different organizations. Join Dr. Henryk Krajewski, a recognized leader in BOTH the research and practice of talent assessment and development to share a unifying view of what matters most in selecting – and keeping – the best talent. Dr. Krajewski will distinguish what matters from what doesn’t, dispel popular myths about talent, and help you focus in on winning strategies that will help you attract and retain “differentiated” talent. Specific learning objectives include: • Learning to use compelling “business-language” conversations about the importance of top talent. • Which assessment methods and tests are research supported, and an analysis of those that aren’t. • What empirical research says about the factors proven to attract high potentials. • Gaining knowledge and familiarity with the age-old psychological data that has simply been “recycled” time and time again in popular books re: engagement. • How to use technology to make all of this easier!
