The retirement plan landscape is changing quickly and much of that change is taking place in 2013. Learn about staff time commitments, costs involved in starting a plan and keeping it going; who pays for the plan expenses, what parties are involved in retirement plans, and what their duties are.

Half of Americans do have access to a retirement savings plan at their workplace. For those that do, about one-third fail to join. Fiduciary competency is rightfully on the minds of many fiduciaries due to the tightening regulatory environment and heightened fiduciary awareness. Indeed, fiduciaries must insulate themselves from breaches of duty as well as possible litigation, and they must be ready to provide evidence of fiduciary compliance. In their preparedness, they must be prudent experts, required to apply substantive and procedural prudence – assessing the right information in the right way.

The purpose of this webinar is to help fiduciaries of 401(k) plans avoid common fiduciary errors and learn how a prudent fiduciary process can help avoid mistakes. Case studies will be used to illustrate how to use a prudent process. Attendees will have a better understanding of their role as a fiduciary and how to properly apply it to fulfilling their fiduciary duties.

Presentation Intended for U.S. Audience: According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 7 in 10 people who reach age 65 will need some long term care during their lives. One year in a nursing facility can cost over $100,000 per year if the care were needed in 2012. If costs continue rising at their historical 5% rate, they will more than double every 15 years. Group Long Term Care Insurance is an essential benefit for employers looking to attract and retain employees. Long Term Care Insurance can be purchased solely by employees or through a combination of employee and employer contributions. The new Partnership Program Long Term Care Insurance policies allow policyholders to protect assets away from Medicaid without a 'look-back' period. Premiums paid by the employer can be expensed in part or in full, depending upon the type of business entity registration. Most policies meet the IRS definition of tax qualified - a requirement to gain federal and state tax advantages.
