Virtual Conference Webcast
Do you have your finger on the pulse of your message? Is it what you intend it to be? Are you connected to the nerve center of the audience...are you calling them to action? Doesn’t matter if it’s it written form or spoken word? Are you connecting to your intended audience, the way in which you want?
This webinar will explore how to make a solid connection with your intended audience, every time you address them. Whether they be front-line staff, management, clients, or prospective employers. It will examine the three key aspects of communication (both written and verbal), explore how to curtail your message for accuracy and detail without error and suggest how to solicit a professional check up as necessary.

Positive or negative, everyone has a personal reputation. It’s how you’re known, how you’re perceived by others and it influences your relationships and your career. A positive reputation is an essential tool for succeeding in today’s competitive environment. People who have a positive reputation will get better jobs, get promoted more often and get bigger bonuses.

Through this hands-on, highly engaging and interactive session, delegates will learn how to take ownership and full advantage of their personal reputation to enhance their careers and contribute to their organizations.

Not only will participants gain insight into how their personal reputation can work for them, they’ll also discover how to use their unique skills and attributes to stand out and expand their success. Creating a strong reputation allows you to be more confident and self-motivated.

Building a strong reputation is not about constructing an image of what you think you should be. It’s about understanding your own strengths, weaknesses and your impact on others.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Determine how they are currently perceived by others
  • Immediately implement strategies to develop the foundation for a positive reputation
  • Develop systematic ways to ensure that they continue to enjoy and build on their positive reputation

Leaders in technology fields typically get promoted (then promoted again) because of their excellent technical skills.
They are excellent engineers, analysts, programmers, medical or technology professionals.
But then they are promoted to manage teams ... and the trouble starts.
The leader's team members complain of poor communications, a lack of engagement or understanding, unrealistic expectations and ignored or submerged conflicts. The leader's boss criticizes a "silo" approach, lack of coordination/collaboration with colleagues, resistance to teamwork, staff complaints.
What happened? Why did this brainy, capable, experienced and knowledgable professional not become the leader the organization expects and needs? How can smart people not “get it” when it comes to leadership? It turns out that technical skills and high IQ do not by themselves produce excellent leadership performance. In fact, technical brilliance may actually be a barrier to leadership development! As Daniel Goleman first pointed out in his seminal book on ‘Emotional Intelligence’, the presence of EQ (or Emotional Intelligence) is at least as important as IQ in leaders.
Emotional Intelligence and the latest EQ assessment instruments provide an excellent lens through which to examine and improve other areas of leadership skills in tech leaders.
This presentation gives practical, actionable ways in which the OD and HR professional can use EQ to assess and improve leadership in tech leaders.
OKA's Hile Rutledge is a certified master trainer in the EQ-i2.0 and EQ360 assessment instruments as well as author of The EQ Workbook. He also uses EQ in consulting projects with leaders across technical fields.
