All the Data You Need vs. the Obstacles to Grab It
When data you need for making decisions resides in many different systems it becomes a real challenge to aggregate the information. Mike will expose the obstacles which may be electronic, physical or political. He has seen it all between his corporate and consulting life. He also has tips about looking at data, uncovering the issues, and determining which system really should be the system of record. There are many ways you can compare data in different systems and there are some basic elements of data which are a true heartache in almost every organization.
In this session, you will learn which data deserves the most attention. The best part is that you don’t have to be a data person to understand it. You will learn through an interactive activity about how applying a different perspective of data can change the decisions you make. By drilling down into information or by looking at the macro level of data, the filters you include and exclude make a difference. Knowing your objectives will help you assess how filtered or broad you need to read the information provided by your analysts, DBAs managers and financial people. Your future workforce depends on your understanding of the trends and segmentation of your workforce. So make sure you understand it and interpret it correctly.
Your ideas are only as sellable as the information you use to back them up and your decisions are only as supportable as the data is trusted. Don’t let misunderstandings occur due to bad data, missing data or not enough data being available.
