Intro to SHRM's Workforce Planning Standards Project
As the workforce planning process begins, you will quickly become overwhelmed by data. So, where do you focus? Rather than starting from the ground up, why not leverage the foundation that is already in place? The best place to start is to utilize industry standards as defined by SHRM, especially if a company isn’t sure about the metrics they need. SHRM has spearheaded the establishment of professional HR standards in the United States and around the globe via American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) standard development approaches. SHRM's intent is to capture and codify the threshold customs, procedures, and practices of our most effective practitioners in HRM. Standards teams comprise members, non-members, academia, professionals and laymen to the HR field.
In this session, Chadbourne will discuss the process behind the creation of the SHRM/ANSI Standards Work for HR. She will also illustrate the procedures and development requirements for such standards. She will address the various roles of the functional task force involved in the rigorous development and review process. She will discuss in depth the standardization of Strategic Workforce Planning and the common challenges organizations may face throughout the entire process. Challenges to be addressed include common definitions, the blending of the art and science in strategic workforce planning, the “must-have’s” and “should-have’s”, and much more.
Pat will close with what the future holds with respect to the ANSI Standards with regard to public consumption. This session is highly recommended for business leaders, HR managers, Workforce Analysts, Workforce Strategy and Talent Management professionals.
