Description
Please join Skillsoft and HR.com for this webinar on Simulation-based Learning. Skillsoft's Vice President of Learning Design, Sally Hovis, will be presenting on the topic of: Simulation-based Learning: Will the prophecy finally be fulfilled?

Sally has over 20 years experience designing and developing a wide range of technology and computer-based training, as well as print-based, video, and instructor-led materials.

Simulations have long been touted as an elearning best practice solution for learning engagement and effectiveness. But adoption and utilization rates have been slow, primarily due to a combination of real and perceived challenges related to cost and development timelines, as well as resistance to allowing employees to play “games” at work. Join us for an update on the current state of simulations in learning, and the trends and factors that are paving the way for actualization of the prediction that simulations and game-based learning will likely be the long-awaited “killer app” for elearning. The session concludes with an example of how the American Heart University blends both custom and off-the-shelf scenario-based simulations into their award-winning corporate learning programs.

At the end of the session, participants should be able to answer these questions:

• What is a learning simulation?
• What are the benefits of using simulation strategies in learning programs and initiatives?
• How and where are different types of simulations in use today?
• What elements and factors contribute to an effective learning simulation?
• What current trends and factors in the learning industry are fueling the growing interest in simulations and games – and how they are designed and used?

Appreciated both speakers willingness to share their metrics on development time which tools they find useful and the examples of using simulations and gaming for their projects. An example is worth a 1000 PPT slides. :-) 4 / 5
