Description
High and chronic stress takes a major toll on employees’ physical and mental health — and can affect employers considerably in performance, productivity and medical costs.
This webinar will share results recently published in a major scientific journal, showcasing a recent collaborative study conducted by Duke Integrative Medicine, Aetna, eMindful and the American Viniyoga Institute. This study evaluated the viability and proof of concept for two innovative mind-body workplace stress reduction solutions. These solutions were composed of 12 weekly, hour-long experiential classes that taught participants skills for managing stress and building resilience. Both of these solutions showed significant improvements on perceived stress, sleep quality and the ability of the nervous system to respond well to stress. Furthermore, the research showed equivalent results for the online classes and in-person delivery, and both had high engagement rates among study participants. Finally, the study found these new mind-body programs to produce results in about half the time of other commonly used mind-body interventions. Among those volunteers screened for the study, those reporting the highest stress levels (top quintile of one major employer) had nearly $2,000 higher medical costs in the preceding year, compared to those reporting the lowest stress levels. Attendees of the webinar will bring back tangible evidence of what works, based upon rigorous science in the rapidly emerging field of integrative medicine. In addition, the webinar will share strategies learned regarding targeted enrollment and resource allocation in the health and wellness arena. Finally, the webinar will present methods for applying such mind-body solutions to the workplace to target costs and productivity for the employers—and improve health and quality of life for employees. Who Should Participate
Executives and managers in human resources, benefits, employee wellness, finance, and general management.
