Description
“No one understands these benefits anyway.” I heard the statement from the company president while the benefits provider was droning on about details of the latest health plan option. As soon as the Q & A began it was easy to agree; the audience of potential plan participants was pretty much clueless about the advantages of signing up for the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and putting money into the corresponding health savings plan (HSA). Subsequent enrollment was limited to the predictable number of senior executives.
The communication gap is discouraging enough when HDHPs are a coverage option and enrollment does not reach expectations. It’s frustrating and potentially damaging to morale when there is no choice of plans, all employees are eligible for one HDHP. Someone will care enough to be relentless in pursuit of understanding the new plan. They’ve have faced a serious personal health crisis or have a chronic illness. Don’t wait until employees access the plan to ensure that understanding of coverage rules, procedures and processes. This session will describe 7 proactive steps employers can take to educate employees, and themselves. The communications process cannot be left entirely to brokers and providers. Employers are in the best position to know their workforce and either write, review or augment communications. Participants will gain tools and tips for deciphering and decoding information. Advance planning and good information will translate into a smoother open enrollment season, greater employee satisfaction and real value. Who Should Participate
This session will provide value for Human Resource and Benefits professionals along with brokers, consultants and business owners who are offering, or considering a High Deductible Health Plan and Health Savings Account.
